Just go to the local supermarket and do your local shop and slip some laxatives into your trolley.
Trust me, I am a checkout chick and I don’t even look at what people buy, so chances are they won’t either.

Thanks Affy. Good info.
Here is a list of foods to avoid with diverticulitis in general.
1) All the junk food such as burgers, pizzas, fried food and spicy food should be avoided.
2) Refined foods like white flour, white rice etc.
3) All the processed foods.
4) Corn and corn products.
5) Nuts
6) Sesame seeds
7) Pumpkin
You should avoid these foods because they will be hard on the digestive system. Once you are healed you may revert back to the previous food habits. You are just inviting another diverticulitis attack. In order to remain healthy you should change your eating habits.
—-
1. Stress - while not a food, this rated as the highest problem from our survey and we have more info on stress in our site.
2. Nuts, Hazel, Peanuts etc
3. Sesame Seeds, this will include buns, and burgers with sesame seeds on them.
4. Corn (any corn, pop corn, sweet corn, even corn flour and tortillas)
5. Chilli’s and peppers, hot and spicy.
I would also like to add a couple of things that got a specific mention, these were not rated as they were not a question in the initial survey, but a lot of people specifically mentioned them as a problem.
1. V8 Tomato Juice
2. Iceberg lettuce
3. Fried, Deep Fried or Fatty foods.
4. Onions
5. Raw Vegetables.

What do you do? Does anything help? THANKS!
YES! It is ten times worse during my time of the month. So far, I haven’t found anything that really helps all that much. I have just resigned myself to suffering for four or five days. It sucks! You could try really restricting your diet during your period. Maybe sticking to the BRAT diet would make it easier for your stomach. Use Immodium!

I want to know any that are actually used by people, since I do not easily fall for the ones that are advertised. Also any that actually help you lose some pounds over time. I already been and a diet for a couple of months, eating right and proportioning my food correctly.
jus eat high fiber foods

My youngest has been suffering from constipation for a couple of weeks. The only way she can go by the use of laxatives and stimulants. The doctors are not being much help. What can we do or use to help her?
I have suffered from this since I was a child. From the sounds of your situation, your doctors aren’t much help…mine weren’t either until now.
First, please have your doctors check for a lactose and wheat intolerance because that could solve your problem right off the bat. If there is an intolerance and you eliminate these from the diet, problem should be solved.
Here’s what we have done and it is finally working!
2 doses per day of Milk of Mag, a daily dose of fiber and a TON of water. I had to do this for about two months to train my digestive system to go daily. Once I had gotten on a schedule of daily bowel movements, I was able to slow down to one dose per day of the Milk of Mag. After about a total of 4 months, my body took over and started to do what it was supposed to do.
I still have problems triggered by certain foods so I also did a food diary to try and figure out which ones were causing the problem.
Your child may have juvenille Irritable Bowel Syndrome as well. This can be helped, but not cured, with a certain type diet and help from the doctors. Keep hounding them and they should eventually start to get the ball rolling.
Good Luck!

My father has been diagnosed with diverticulitis for a year. He’s not eaten ANYTHING with seeds, NOTHING! He’s having another flare up and I’m worried. He hurts so bad that he is talking about having 12 inches surgically removed. Is there anything else he can do to stop hurting? Is surgery an only option at this point.
Thank you!
Sorry for misspelling Surgery.
Best to talk to Specialist

Well, I agree you should probably talk to your doc. But, I have the same issues and here’s what I’ve gathered. For immediate relief, try immodium (straight up stuff, not the advanced). I can have it real bad and if I take 2 of those, I’m back to normal. Matter of fact, if I take 2 of them consecutive days, then I am good for about 7 days. I do try to limit it to only when I have to…traveling or going out to eat with a group.
Long term, you can try a couple things. Most docs will provide you with a probiotic. I personally have bought, but not yet used, one called align. It has excellent reviews so check it out. Also, you should get your diet in order. Most of the bad, greasy, fatty foods will cause episodes. But in addition to that, you probably have some foods that just do it everytime no matter what. Keep a journal for a couple weeks and try to pinpoint what’s causing it.
Finally, a lot of it IS in your head an related to nervousness. I never have episodes when I’m at home. I can eat pizza at home and never have issues. I rarely have issues when I eat something bad fo rme and have to drive home. When I’m driving with other peole and just ate something bad, odds go up that I’ll feel a little urgency coming on. That tells me that there’s somethng mental going on.
It’s kind of a PITA, but if you learn to deal with it then it shouldn’t be too bad. I just go to more extreme measures when I don’t really want to worry about it. So like when I fly, I pop some immodiums and keep my meals pretty light. Stuff like that. Once you get to know yourself, you should be solid (literally).

I keep hearing about these cleansers and i was wondering, do they help you lose weight and clean your body out?
Colon cleansers are a good solution for problems such as constipation and IBS.
As they are designed to get rid of waste in the body they DO reduce bloating however they are NOT a weight loss product and I wouldn’t recommend that you use them as such.
