I just want to detox naturally but i have read some adverse feedback against some colon cleansers.
"Colon Cleansers" have been debunked as a myth. The icky evacuation they cause, claimed to be the "gunk lining your colon" is actually caused by the so called "cure" and is not in you.
Your body "detoxes" itself constantly. Drinking lots of water will do NOTHING to speed the process, despite what some fools believe.

To detox naturally, start with a magnesium citrate laxitive to help clear and serious blockages. Then, just follow this up with a healthy diet with plenty of fiber. Eat rasin bran, cheerios, oatmeal and other whole grain cereals for breakfast.
Make sure lunch and dinner are balanced meals. snack on fruits and veggies. Drink fruit juices and teas and avoid soda and coffee. Alcohol should be avoided while detoxing. Taking a good multi-vitamin helps.
I've used cleansing teas and things will come out of your body. Do a tea cleanse once a week, it's very gentle, you aren't on the toilet all day. There is no need to buy fancy and/or expensive preparations. Detox tea availible on your supermarket shelf at a reasonable price. It contains basically the same stuff you'd get from a chinese herbalist or holistic practitioner.
Good Luck

I have seen and heard about many colon cleansers from companies like herbalife or GNC. I am wondering though if it does improve your body or if it is just a scam. Can anyone help?
Well, if you look at the ingredients, you can make your own cleansing formula yourself.
They put some Vitamins, fibers from various sources. I can’t say colon cleansing is a scam, for I never tried it myself and I don’t believe in it. They place stiff price tags in the name of the colon cleansing, IMO.
Best approach is to add more fibers in your diet. Food form of fibers are the best and safe. Let the food work naturally to cleanse our clogged up colon.

I know, when it comes to making the pit stop after the cleanser, it is quite disgusting…but does this stuff really work?
Kenneth is talking complete rubbish.
A study of the living human anatomy reveals that the colon is at no time dirty or clogged. Medical professionals believe that the colon is completely self-sufficient to handle regular cleansing, without any external intervention.
The colon is self cleansing.
Colon cleansers give you ‘holistic diarrhoea’ and can cause vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramps, a dangerous loss of water and electrolytes, which can lead to dehydration and even abnormal heart rhythms. It can upset the body’s own finely-tuned bacterial balance.
Read the skeptoid link below re ‘harmful toxins and they also have a great deal of solidified fecal matter built up in there’.
Re detoxing in general…

From the above link…
“We have this wonderful thing called a liver and gastrointestinal tract which is quite long,” he (Professor Peter Pressman, a lecturer in clinical medicine at USC) says. “Between them, these two manage everything shovelled into our bodies quite well. We are not made to give the system a rest.”

I want to lose weight, I have heard this is a good way to do it ??? Any advice out there ?
No they don’t have any therapeutic effects, they are basically a pointless throwback to the irrational actions of constipated Edwardians.

I won’t start by wondering why this question is in the "Mental Health" section… my imagination is gonna work overtime!
The answer is usually within a couple of days. Colon cleansers are designed for people who suffer sluggish bowels or irritable bowel syndrome or who just want to rid their bowels of various toxins etc.
This part is probably not for anyone who has just eaten or of a weak disposition…
Quite often some of the food we eat and which isn’t digested doesn’t make it all the way through the bowel to be expelled as faeces. It sometimes gets "stuck" and becomes compacted inside us. There are cases of compacted faeces having to be surgically removed that are over 3 feet long! This compaction is mainly due to a combination of a modern low-fibre diet and lack of exercise but some people are just more prone to this than others.
This stuff just sits there festering with bacteria all over it and may release unpleasant toxins as a result. In the worst cases the bowel may become blocked with this stuff and in other cases the normal digestive "juice" has to force its way past - often causing stomach cramps and sometimes loose runny stools or sudden episodes of diarrhoea (irritable bowel syndrome). The toxins may even contribute to causing bowel cancer and other unpleasantness.
Colon cleansers swell in the gut to provide "bulk" which enables the natural muscular contractions of the gut to push the gut contents through (both the "good" stuff and any compacted nasty stuff). They are also slightly "rough" so that they cause a "scrubbing" action to clean the gut walls.
The first signs that it is working will usually be very dark lumps of compacted feaces in your stools - so you will have to inspect your stools to see (said this wasn’t for the faint hearted!).
You may continue passing these dark lumps for a considerable time as bits get broken off from the compacted mass. But stick with the colon cleansers even if you stop seeing them (or indeed if you never saw any) - it certainly won’t do you any harm and is highly likely to be beneficial.

I have heard a lot that colon cleansers really help lose weight…Is it true that you do lose weight with those, and if so has anyone had any positive stories about losing weight and keeping it off with the colon cleansers
Colon cleansers do not help you to lose weight. Although some people may lose some weight after doing a cleanse, it is just water weight - it does not represent real weight loss. It’s physiologically impossible to lose fat from a colon cleanse.
In addition, your colon is a self cleaning organ - you don’t need to give it any help in this area, apart from drinking water and eating a healthy, high fiber diet.

I’M REALLY FOCUSING ON LOOSING WEIGHT AND THE MY MAIN FOCUS IS FLATTING MY STOMACH AND LOVE HANDLES,I’VE HEARD THAT USING A COLON CLEANSER HELP WITH FLATTING YOUR STOMACH.PLLZZZ HELP
STOP YELLING AT US!! and realize that you "lose" weight (loose means not tight).
Consider what you are asking. Why would pooping have ANY effect on your abdominal muscles? Sorry, doesn’t work that way. Emptying your colon does nothing but evacuate the feces in there, which builds right back up as you eat. Your body is self-cleansing. You don’t need colon cleansers unless you have a problem, and then your doctor will prescribe something for you.
If you want a flat stomach you need to do cardio exercise to burn off the fat that’s there…eat right so you don’t gain weight, and then do ab exercises and core exercises to tone and firm your muscles.

Does it really help you lose weight?
Hi Jenny,
Colon cleansers can actually work very well. Colon detoxing actually has been around for many years, dating back to 1500 B.C. used by the Egyptians, and colon cleansing was also reported being used commonly in Ancient Greece. Recently there has been a lot of interest in the new colon cleanse product and with the help of Dr. Oz and Oprah these days, many have a lot more interest in the whole colon detox process.
Many claim that colon detox remedies should be done on a regular basis such as brushing your teeth, taking a shower, or even changing the oil in your car. It’s all a form of flushing the unwanted waste that has been collecting in that area to prevent unwanted build up such as bacteria, decay, or rotting in that area.
There’s an excellent resource that explains what I am talking about in more detail included in the link below.
I hope this helps. Best of luck Jenny!

There is no demonstrated value to colon cleansing unless it is prior to a medical procedure . Prolonged use can cause serious salt imbalance and nutritional problems ,so quit now and stop worrying about cleaning your bowels . Mother Nature has tha tall under control!
