What foods can relief IBS with constipation? Any sufferers out there with advice?

I exercise daily, drink plenty of water and I have a high Fibre diet. I have been diagnosed with IBS and my constipation is very bad. I would like to know which foods have broiught relief for other sfferes and also which to avoid. ( I know everone is somewhat diffrent, but still, there must be general stuff). I feel very depressed and none of my loved ones understand what I am going through. Please give me advice.

Aloe Vera juice form Holland and Barretts is brilliant for this, tastes vile but does the trick.

On some occasions diet and working out basically isn’t sufficient, because there will be surplus weight basically sitting around in the pipes. It is not body fat, therefore it cannot be melted off, but it will be rinsed out, basically by taking a supplement. http://vulank.wellbeinglive.info has a risk free offer offered currently, I tried it and lost 17 lbs!! Who says there’s no magic bullet? LOL!!!

I control my IBS with food and the one thing that always works for me is Bran flakes with a hot cup of tea and if you can do it a walk around. That usually works within hours.
It sounds like you have plenty of fibre in your diet anyway but eating Bran Flakes everyday is the only thing I can do when I get in your situation, i dont always want them but its the only way to control the condition.
I have to avoid bread, pasta, rice and this sounds daft but the worst thing for me is Rice Krispies, I’ve not eaten them for years (I love them) but its just not worth the pain.

I have recently been diagnosed with exactly the same thing. everyone are different but I bloat up and cant go to the loo so its quite uncomforable. I found peppermint tea (as horrible as it is) gave me some relief. I also took some senakot the other night to help and felt much better for it the next day but that isnt something you can take all the time or you will become dependant on them to help you go to the loo. I found that eating a lot of fruit helps like bannanas etc (not citrus fruits). Also porridge is good! I have heard Aloe Vera works for this too so I have ordered some aloe vera tablets, i hope they come soon as I really want them to work! This website helped me a lot so have a read and you might find something that will help! also drink lots of water! this seems to help! http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Irritable-bowel-syndrome/Pages/Introduction.aspx

I understand your pain hun, none of my family understand either and it has to be one of the most depressing things to have to deal with!

My husband has IBS, and there are three things that have really helped him. 1: Drinking enough water- plenty of it. 2: Slippery Elm Bark pills and powder- the pills can be swallowed, the powder is great to bake into things like bread and crumble toppings or to swirl into hot milk. It actually tastes pretty good, kind of a nutty vanilla flavour. 3: Peppermint oil- he preferred the powder form that you add to water but there are capsules as well.

Have you tried Prune juice/Bran flakes/Figs & from the chemist Lactulose Solution BP which can be bought in any chemist. I was given it is hospital & then purchased @ the chemist. Use it gradually as your bowels could end up like "pebble dash" in the toilet? If you live in UK buy a pkt. of White Cornflour, mix a round dessert spoon with water/juice & that will STOP you using the Loo.(fact)
Sorry your feeling so poorly, I hope you will feel better shortly. :) X

With IBS the gut goes into spasm so poo does not pass through and when you do go its usually little lumps. After a lifetime of having this I found Boots IBS tablets (Mebeverine) works wonders. They stop the bloating your bowels relax and you can go to the toilet. Give them a try. I did find that fibre made me constipated.
