What is the best natural gentle way to relieve constipation?

I have IBS and constipation and I try laxatives like mira lax and things like that but they cause terrible cramping and I bind up and then it hurts even more… what are some Natural gentle products that would help with my constipation gently? thanks

In my 23 years experience in medicine i have come to the conclusion that treatment of chronic constipation is easy, not difficult.
1. The first treatment to give immediate relief is the combination of herbs which if taken for very long time, do not give any side effects. Like Triphala - Harar, Baheda & Amla three fruits not medicines in equal quantity or adjusted with the constitution of person to person. The most effective time tested Ayurvedic tonic which is suggested to take life long for its anti ageing and immunity boosting properties.
2. My most effective therapy :
Fix a time i.e. 8 a.m. in the morning and 8 p.p. in the evening
just go to toilet, sit and think that your stomach will be cleared, sit for a while, if not do not give pressure and come back.
Go in the evening and repeat.
In day 1,2,3,…9..12 days maximum you will start clearing your stomach twice a day.
Its my psychological therapy to my patients to train your brain to clear stomach twice a day to remain health. Your body need vitamins every 12 hrs. & it releases toxins and unwanted to large intestines & bladder every 12 hrs. if you are clean from inside you can get rid of lot of coming diseases.
Water kept in copper vassal and drinked several times also purifies liver of lot of toxines.
First get rid of constipation & the your IBS will be very easy to be cured as warm stomach do not allow other treatments to effect.
Clear & cool your stomach. Stop eating fine flour, heating food, old food which is again & again kept in fridge and re-heated in micro, try & eat freshly cooked food, avoid non-veg. for few days and eat lot of dark green leafy vege., do not take proper dinner at night but eat salad or veg. soup at night 2 hrs. before sleep.
Eat seasonal fuits in the evening when you are empty stomach in the evening. Do not eat non seasonal fruits or vegetables which are cold storaged as God create things which are good for us in a particular season and eating non-seasonal is anti nature.
Hope you will be cured in less then 15 days.

    Well, getting 20 grams of fiber daily (up to 30) and drinking plenty of water, along with 1/2 hour of walking, are going to be a great benefit. A good probiotic daily (Culturelle, Kyodophilus, Primadophilus, Enzymatic Therapy pearls) is quite beneficial in keeping the GI tract happy.

    While dealing with treatment-induced constipation, I was told to use Senekot. It’s pretty gentle.

    But the first paragraph is going to do more to establish and maintain regularity than drugs.

    Magnesium, also sometimes called Magnesium Citrate, either is fine.
    Buy it at your local vitamin shop or pharmacy that carries supplements.
    Inexpensive, extremely safe and very effective.
    Buy a reputable and quality brand.
    Follow the directions on the container for dosage.
    You can adjust it according to your needs.

    Make sure that you’re drinking plenty of fluids because most often people who suffer from constipation don’t get enough pure water and fluids. Magnesium is great too, and getting plenty of fiber. You want to make sure you’re getting your fiber how it’s meant to be - in it’s natural state. That means eating plenty of raw fruits, vegetable, and whole grains like brown rice, barley, and quinoa. Legumes also should be eaten regularly, and meat consumption should be minimal. Hope this helps! :)

    I also have been diagnosed with IBS & to keep from becoming constipated, I rely on a few things to keep me regular.

    (1) Graham crackers
    (2) Prune juice (8oz. glass)
    (3) 100% whole wheat cereal/bread
    (4) Water (6-8 glasses daily)

    I consume all of the above daily, except for the prune juice. I drink a glass of it every other day, if I run out of graham crackers. I feel that the crackers work really well & I love eating them with coffee. Don’t forget to walk daily for as long as you can. I walk an hour daily & it seems to help.

    Plenty of water and fiber. When I was constipated as a kid my pediatrician recommended a big glass of prune juice every day. It helped me then. IBS has it’s roots in stress related mental disorders according to most doctors, so if you don’t already try exercising a few times a week.
