I just want to detox naturally but i have read some adverse feedback against some colon cleansers.

"Colon Cleansers" have been debunked as a myth. The icky evacuation they cause, claimed to be the "gunk lining your colon" is actually caused by the so called "cure" and is not in you.

Your body "detoxes" itself constantly. Drinking lots of water will do NOTHING to speed the process, despite what some fools believe.

To detox naturally, start with a magnesium citrate laxitive to help clear and serious blockages. Then, just follow this up with a healthy diet with plenty of fiber. Eat rasin bran, cheerios, oatmeal and other whole grain cereals for breakfast.
Make sure lunch and dinner are balanced meals. snack on fruits and veggies. Drink fruit juices and teas and avoid soda and coffee. Alcohol should be avoided while detoxing. Taking a good multi-vitamin helps.

I've used cleansing teas and things will come out of your body. Do a tea cleanse once a week, it's very gentle, you aren't on the toilet all day. There is no need to buy fancy and/or expensive preparations. Detox tea availible on your supermarket shelf at a reasonable price. It contains basically the same stuff you'd get from a chinese herbalist or holistic practitioner.

DIVERTICULITIS- on FLagyl (allergic to cipro) What to eat?

Hi I am having my first and hopefully last bout of diverticulitis. I discovered after 3 doses of cipro and flagyl that I am allergic to cipro. So I am just continuing with the flagyl. Has anyone ever experienced that or just been on flagyl for an attack. Also my main concern is what the heck to eat?? And for how long, when do I start adding fiber back in? Thanks

talk to your doctor on what to eat. My mom was hospitalized and only had iv’s for a week. Then was on a liquid diet and progress to soft bland food. The worse things to eat is things with seeds and harder to digest foods.

If you put laxatives in someones drink will it change the taste of the drink?

yes, laxatives have a very distinct taste. Anyone would know if you put some in their drink - AND its a rotten thing to do.

Well, if you look at the ingredients, you can make your own cleansing formula yourself.
They put some Vitamins, fibers from various sources. I can’t say colon cleansing is a scam,for I never tried it myself and I don’t believe in it. They place stiff price tags in the name of the colon cleansing, IMO.
Best approach is to add more fibers in your diet. Food form of fibers are the best and safe. Let the food work naturally to cleanse our clogged up colon.

Loosing weight fast is always an unhealthy thing.
There are many diets who tell you that you can loose a lot of weight in no time. And it is working, but you are doing no good to your body. And there’s also the Jojo-effect.
The best thing to loose and hold a healthy weight is healthy food, less sugar, lots of drinking water, and sports.
Diet has to begin in your head. And you already started to think about your nutrition. That’s an important step. It is too easy just to make a magazine-diet for 2-3 weeks and loose some weight. But it will come back soon again. If you are over-thinking your nutrition and activity, you will have a constantly good result. Isn’t that much better and healthier than a crash-diet ?

Are gay guys more likely to suffer from diverticulitis ?

I have this dear friend of mine who is gay and lives with his boyfriend. He was taken to the hospital last night (he is 27) and diagnosed with diverticulitis. Could this condition be caused by anal sex? He told me he was too embarrassed to ask the doctor.

anal sex does not cause diverticulitis. the disease is WAY way up there in the intestine so it has nothing to do with being penetrated.

Does anyone here use those "colon cleansers" ? Do they work? Are they healthy? How often?

What food can you mix into mineral oil (the constipation treater) to make it taste better? For example would mixing it into a milkshake make it float to that top? Or does it mix well with fudge sauce, oatmeal etc. Please help it rather urgent.
Thank you all for your answers but I am not looking for substitues for mineral oil I am looking for ways to mix it into things. Also for the record I am allergic to prunes.

I’ve never heard of using mineral oil as a treatment for constipation, so I really can’t help you there. But there are some other ways that work really well to relieve constipation:
Fiber - it’s not enough to just eat whole grain when you are constipated, but fiber supplements, such as Metamucil, work gently and take a few hours to work. You can get it as a mixing powder, capsules, bars, or my favorite - chewables.
Milk of Magnesia - never tried it myself, but I heard it works fast and really well.
"Dieter’s Tea" - found in many drug stores and Asian markets, it uses the herb Cassia Angustifolia (Senna) which helps to clear you out. It takes a few hours to kick in, and you will be going all day (don’t do it on a work day), but you feel fantastic after. Though it is sold as a tea, it is very potent. If you have any digestive problems, such as ulcers, contact your doctor before using it.
